The Centre firmly believes early intervention prevents homelessness. The continued
development of a Homeless Intervention and Prevention Service within South
Ayrshire is a major contributor to meeting strategic objectives and this has been
incorporated into the Services we provide. Our Prison Housing Advice Service
prevented homelessness in 131 cases. There are a wide range of benefits which
flow from proactive prevention. These range from direct benefits to Service Users
including improved health and wellbeing, educational opportunities and staying
within their localities, less disruption. Third party benefits include economic and
reduced demands on local Services.
