It’s Day 2 of #ChallengePoverty Week
In a just labour market, all jobs would provide security and enough money to live a decent life. But right now, low wages and insecure contracts mean that for too many people this is not the case.
Wages have stagnated in real terms since 2010 meaning that work simply does not pay enough for many people to afford basic necessities.
Employers can #TurnTheTide and #ChallengePoverty by joining the 2,700 firms and organisations already in the @LivingWageScot movement.
Paying the real Living Wage shows a strong ethical commitment and has put hundreds of millions into the pockets of workers in Scotland.
Many local councils and public sector employers have already made the choice to join the @LivingWageScot movement. Every public sector employer can take a moral stand to help #TurnTheTide and #ChallengePoverty.
