HELP FOR SOCIAL TENANTS ON UC – HOW TO UPDATE YOUR RENT INCREASE
- wee reminder to ALL tenants with a rent increase from April – contact us if u need help with this
*Confirming your new housing costs if you claim Universal Credit*
In April 2025, WSHA tenants who claim Universal Credit will be sent a ‘Confirm your housing costs’ to-do from the DWP. You MUST complete this or you risk receiving the wrong amount and will start accruing rent arrears. This needs to be completed as early as possible after receiving the to-do notice.
If your housing costs are paid for by Universal Credit:
1.Wait until you are sent a to-do in April called ‘Confirm your housing costs’.
2.Use the information in the Rent and Service Charge Increase letter WSHA sent you in February to complete the to-do before the due date to avoid problems with your payments.
Do not report these changes before 1st April 2025.
If your housing costs/rent are paid for by Universal Credit and you do not have an online account then you will have to call Universal Credit on 0800 328 5644.
You must only use the ‘Confirm your housing costs’ to-do to report these changes. Do not contact Universal Credit to report them any other way.
If you are unsure about how to do this, or have any other questions, our Welfare Rights team will be happy to help. Contact us directly via 0141 550 5662 or email welfare.rights@Westscot.co.uk
